Terms of Sale

Last updated: 12 July 2026

These terms govern purchases made on montrosecards.com from Montrose Cards (“Montrose Cards,” “we,” “us”). We have written them in plain language on purpose — this is a page we expect our buyers to actually read before committing four figures to a card.

Reservations

Clicking “Reserve” on an item and paying the deposit creates a reservation, confirmed by email. At that moment, the hammer price, the 5% buyer's premium, and any shipping cost already known are frozen — none of those figures change afterwards, even if our list price or shipping rates change later. A confirmed reservation holds the item for you for 48 hours from activation, shown as a countdown once your reservation is active.

The deposit

Reserving an item requires a deposit of €100 per item. The deposit is deducted from the final price you pay by bank transfer. If we are unable to deliver the item you reserved, the deposit is released to you in full.

The €100 per-item deposit may be retained by Montrose if a confirmed reservation is abandoned without payment. Deposits are released when the sale completes or when a reservation is cancelled through no fault of the buyer.

Buyer's premium

A 5% buyer's premium is added to every hammer price and shown, broken out, before you confirm a reservation — never bundled invisibly into the displayed price. The rate in force at the moment you confirm is the rate that applies to your purchase, permanently.

Payment

The balance due — total price minus your deposit, plus any shipping cost — is payable by bank transfer. Instructions and our IBAN are emailed to you once your reservation is confirmed. Please complete the transfer, and make sure it reaches us, within your 48-hour reservation window; if you need more time, ask us before the window closes.

Shipping

Every item ships insured and with signature required on delivery. Shipping cost depends on the destination zone shown at checkout; for a small number of destinations quoted individually, we send you the exact shipping cost together with the bank transfer instructions, before you owe anything beyond the deposit.

Returns and right of withdrawal

Every item is inspected and its grading certificate verified before listing, and is described and photographed as accurately as we can manage. If an item arrives materially different from its listing — wrong card, wrong grade, or damage not disclosed — contact us within 14 days of delivery and we will make it right, including a full refund if appropriate. Beyond that, because each item is a unique, individually graded collectible rather than a mass-produced good, we do not currently offer a general right to return an item simply because you changed your mind. This section is a conservative placeholder pending legal review of how the EU right of withdrawal applies to graded collectibles, and may be revised.

Authenticity guarantee

Every graded item we sell has its certification verified directly against the issuing grading company's (PSA, BGS, or CGC) own records before it is listed. If an item you purchase from us is ever conclusively shown not to be authentic, or not to match its stated certificate, we will refund you in full.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Spanish law, our liability to you in connection with a purchase is limited to the price you paid for the relevant item. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any purchase made under them, are governed by Spanish law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved directly between us shall be submitted to the courts of Barcelona, Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection venue rules that apply in your favor.

These terms are provided for information; the binding version is confirmed at checkout.
